Jonathan Mak and Apple Tribute.

What a fine and interesting design isn't it? After Steve Jobs recent death this image has reached about all corners of the internet. Originally being done by Jonathan Mak, this really projects a distinct personality towards the situation to the world. Though recently Mak has been called out in the graphic design circuit as a copier.

Here's how it goes, Mak originally made this design as a tribute to Steve Jobs after he stepped down as CEO of Apple. Though after the death of Jobs this image has exploded through the depths of the web. As more and more people saw the design they really couldn't pass up the certain common characteristics to another design by Chris Thornley. Though the two have almost the exact same design, it really seems to me that this idea could have been thrown up into the air. I mean who really didn't know about Jobs' death? It just seems the tribute definitely goes to the person who designed it first, which was Thornley. Similarities in the graphic design circuit are quite common and I think Mak earned quite a valuable lesson.
Everyone should always do a lot of research before entering and proclaiming an idea on the internet. The power of the web brings images straight to our lives and copying an idea can be easier than ever. Though not always with bad intent ideas get copied, but I understands that it can happen unintentionally.

Good luck with everything Mak and your work is quite well. Everyone should always keep aspiring to create art and brighten our world.
